phoonk

Phoonk – Surprisingly GoodBefore I start the review I must say that Ram Gopal Verma's Phoonk is not for the faint hearted. Whether you believe in black magic or not, one thing is for sure that this movie will give you sleepless nights for a while.Rajeev (Sudeep) is a successful construction engineer married with a loving wife and two children. However, like a lot of us he doesn't believe in things like black magic and voodoo. But when something untoward begins to happen under his own roof, Sudeep can't help but suddenly question himself and his atheism. So is it worth the visit to the cinema?Definitely! Director RGV will hold your mind and attention through the entire film. In fact from the first scene itself RGV manages to get your heart racing. As far as the acting is concerned everyone has come away with top notch performances. Starting with child artist Ahsaas Channa deserves the highest accolades for pulling of the performance. Next is Ashwini Kalsekar whose eccentric act leaves you with goose bumps. The rest of the star cast including Sudeep, Amruta and Zakir have also done a great job. While Lilette Dubey does a good job as doctor, she does feel slightly wasted in the film.RGV made a statement to his detractors with Sarkar Raj and now with Phoonk, he has let people know of his ability once again. Playing with an idea that will be scoffed by many, the director has used all his experience to come up with a film that will not only silence most of his critics but also make it difficult for the next horror film that is made in Bollywood for a very long time. For me Phoonk will surely qualify as one of the most well made movies in Bollywood in the recent past.

review of c company

C Kkompany – Comedy CaperC Kkompany is the story of three average men who are fed up with their lives and are hoping for a miracle to help turn things around for them. Akshay Kumar (Tusshar Kapoor) plays a journalist who loves all things concerning the underworld which includes his girlfriend Priya (Raima Sen) who happens to be the sister of the local don Dattu bhai (Mithun Chakraborty). But the salary of a journalist isn't enough to run away abroad with Priya and so he is hoping for a way that will make him rich overnight. Ramakant Joshi (Anupam Kher) is fed up with his son. After having spent every penny on him, he today has to deal with his lack of concern for his own father. Now Joshi is on a one point plan to recover every penny that he spent on his son from his son. And the third man is Lambodhar Jha who has to deal with the taunts of the world about his height – or the lack of it!Tired of the constant struggle that their lives have become, the three often meet on the rooftop of their building to discuss their problems over alcohol. And on one such booze filled night, the three come up with a plan to scare Joshi's son by acting as a bhai on the phone extorting money. So the next day Joshi's son receives a call that leaves him petrified and ready to cough up the one crore being asked on the phone. That phone call gives birth to C Kkompany! The three then almost transform into Robinhood as they use their bhaigirii to help the average man find a solution to his problems. So is the film worth a watch?Yes if you are looking for a light hearted comedy caper. Leave your brains at home and head to the cinema to watch Tusshar Kapoor give one of his better performances. The actor has definitely improved over the years. Anupam Kher often feels lost during the film but Rajpal yadav has come out on tops too. His bhai act leaves you in splits and if not for anything else, then his overall performance is worth a dekho.Coming from the Balaji Telefilms banner, you wouldn't expect the kind of tongue in cheek humour that the script has with respect to its tv serials. The fun the film pokes at Ekta Kapoor's serials leaves you laughing through out. And Mithun Chakraborty's act of a don obsessed with Balaji characters is hilarious and definitely displays a new side to the senior actor.Overall C KKompany is a film containing perfectly timed comedy that doesn't make you cringe even once. It is just the kind of antidote we need after a stressful week!

review of 'rock on'

Rock On – Raw AppealRock On is the story of four friends who love music and have their own band Magik. Aditya (Farhan Akhtar) is the lead singer, Joe (Arjun Rampal) the lead guitarist, Rob (Luke Kenny) sorts out the keys and KD (Purab Kohli) is the mad drummer. All four of them dream of making it big with their rock band, they go through the grind of performing at small gigs to make money and survive. And finally a competition comes their way which if they win will give them a record deal and a music video.Kicked with the opportunity, Magik gives it their all and goes onto win the competition. And so finally the opportunity to have their own album comes their way. Joe has written a song and he wants it to be a part of the album as a dedication to his girlfriend Debbie (Shahana Goswami) who has stuck with him through thick and thin. Plans are rapidly made within Magik about the album songs and that their friend Debbie who plans to be a designer will style them for the video. However when the contract comes their way, it also brings numerous problems. The hard nosed label head gets them to drop Joe's composition and in turn replace it with a remix version that works in today's times. Not only that he dismisses the idea that Debbie will be their stylist. With no other choice and desperately in need of the first break, the band puts up with all this. Finally its time to shoot their video and with all the focus on the lead singer Aditya, the remaining three band members feel neglected. Joe voices his opinion and gets into an argument with Aditya. Not only that but he also gets into a fist fight with him as well as the label rep. Both Aditya and Joe walk out and that is the end of Magik. However, ten years later Aditya (who is now an extremely successful investment banker) meets his past through his wife Sakshi (Prachi Desai). Initially not wanting to rake up a past that he has long forgotten and had even kept a secret from Sakshi, Aditya realizes that if he wants to actually move on and be happy in life he needs to come face to face and accept his past. And that brings Magik and its members together once again. But like they say rock never dies and it hasn't died in these four blokes either. The four literally pick up from where they had left off. But there is just one problem. While the other three are managing financially, Debbie and Joe are scraping through. And so when Magik gets an opportunity to relive a dream of performing live, Debbie puts her foot down as she has secured a well paying job for Joe which requires him to be on a ship.Certain moments in the film stand out like they did in Dil Chahta Hai. Farhan Akhtar has done a fantastic job as an actor. He should definitely take his acting seriously. Purab Kohli is another brilliant actor and his act is absolutely adorable. Arjun Rampal almost reminds you of Guns n Roses guitarist Slash during his performances in the film especially right at the end. There are two particular scenes in the film that make you laugh – Purab's rendition of Gloria Gaynor's I will Survive and when they decide to perform Hindi filmi songs in their rock ishytle. And a special mention must be made of director Abhishek Kapoor who has portrayed the lives of a rock band quite close to reality. The look and get up of the four band members hits home and sets the tone for the rest of the film. And the contrast in the present also helps. All in all Rock On is a great film. It is for the young at heart and those who understand the feeling of having music in your bones.

review of a wednesday!

A Wednesday – Ode to the common manA Wednesday begins with a man (Naseruddin Shah) who calls the commissioner of police Prakash Rathod (Anupam Kher) and says that he has planted 6 bombs across Mumbai city that will go off at 6.30 that evening if his demands are not met. He wants the release of four criminals who have been imprisoned for terrorist activities. With his numbers not traceable and with no background on him, Rathod has no choice but to heed his demands.Trusting his two main cops Arif Khan (Jimmy Shergill) and Jai Singh (Aamir Bashir), Rathod sets out to hopefully foil the plan. Keeping the entire matter hush hush, the Mumbai police force sets out to nab this criminal who wants to free his mates. But unable to turn up with anyway to catch him, the police force begins the transfer of these 4 terrorists from their respective prisons. As per this man's instructions, the 4 are transferred to the Juhu Aviation pad. But just when the two cops transferring them there – Arif and Jai – turn around, the bench kept there for the 4 criminals blows up taking three of the terrorists with it. This leaves Arif, Jai and the rest of the task force confused.Who is this man? Why did he ask for their freedom if he wanted to kill them? That's the question this film asks you. This man is you, me and every one of us. He is the common man who has kept quiet for too long and needs to wake up. Or rather wants the authorities to know that he can wake up.In terms of acting, Naseeruddin Shah shows us why he is a legend. His controlled and passionate acting leaves you spellbound. Till he very end you don't know what to expect. Anupam Kher as the commissioner of police is equally good. Jimmy Shergill with next to no words shines in the film. This is one actor who needs the right kind of films to showcase his talent. Aamir Bashir does a good job too.All in all A Wednesday is a must watch. It is a well made film that needs to be seen by every common man in today's times. It deals with terrorism and its affects. It lets the terrorists all over the world know that if pushed too hard we can wake up.

review of the last tear

It is Diwali night and Siddharth Kumar’s (Arjun Rampal) film The Mask is premiering. However, sadly for him the film’s two main protagonists Harish Mishra (Amitabh Bachchan) and Shabnam (Preity Zinta) are absent. As the film moves on you are told that Harish has met with an accident that has left him bed ridden while Shabnam doesn’t want to be a part of the premiere as she wants to get away from her dominating husband and be by the side of the man who changed her attitude towards life.Shabnam arrives at Harry’s home only to come face to face with his sullen wife Vandana (Shefali Shah) who looks at her with complete suspicion and a part of the film industry that has put her husband into bed forever. Now you may be wondering what all of this has to do with The Last Lear or Shakespeare for that matter. The Shakespearean connect comes in through Harish Mishra who eats, breathes and lives Shakespeare and theatre. Just when he was about to perform one of his dream roles that of King Lear, he leaves the stage for good. Despite being a prolific actor on stage, he has never ventured onto the big screen – that’s till Siddharth comes knocking on his door and lures him into the world of the silver screen. However, sadly for Harish and for the rest of the crew, the filming of the climax scene marks the end of Harry baba. But Rituparno Ghosh’s Last Lear is still not just about Harry and his fixation with acting and Shakespeare. It also accounts for the lives of Shabnam who is dealing with an insecure husband, that of Ivy (Divya Dutta) who is Harry’s nurse and is constantly trying to convince her boyfriend that when she is at a night shift, she is actually working and that of Vandana who is coming to accept the end of her husband’s illustrious career as an actor. The Last Lear also perfectly depicts the guilt of journalist Gautam (Jishu Sengupta) who blames himself for Harry’s current condition because it is him who tells his friend Siddharth about Harry. The Last Lear is for those who want to see Amitabh Bachchan at one of his finest moments. The actor’s presence on screen leaves you in a trance and unable to blink. And it is due to his stupendous performance that his co-stars who have done a great job themselves almost feel like interruptions in Bachchan’s poetic flow. Rituparno has managed to capture Bachchan in a light that most directors who have worked with the superstar have not even touched.Preity as Shabnam does a good job but in some scenes she appears too controlled in her attempt to not appear in control. Arjun Rampal as the off beat director comes off well and his last scene makes you want to hate him and when you as an actor are able to do that then it means you’ve done your job.All in all The Last Lear is a good watch for all those who love Shakespeare. For all those who like what we in India call alternative cinema. And for all those who want to see Big B at his finest!

1920 good horror film review

1920 - Keep the faith alive!1920 starts with two people being murdered by a vengeful spirit who does not want his lair to be demolished. The lair in question is a very old haveli; more like a castle.Arjun (Duggal) leaves his family and Hindu faith to marry Anglo Indian Lisa (Sharma). The two move to Bombay and get married. Arjun is an architect and has to move to Palanpur to convert the same haveli into a hotel. Strange things start happening to Lisa and she believes the palace is haunted. Arjun is away for work when she gets possessed by the restless spirit. The second half reveals why Lisa is the spirit's chosen one.The movie has excellent production values and cinematography but you cannot fully believe that Allerton Castle in Yorkshire is a haveli in Palanpur, a hill station in British India. The portrayal of British India is quite good. The special effects have been done very neatly; the simple ones like doors opening and shutting are tricks but the complex ones in the second half are the best we have seen in recent times in Bollywood. The first half is especially spooky. The second half is scary too though some parts appear comical; there is nothing we haven't seen before. The first half keeps you gripped while the second half gets predictable.Adah Sharma fits the role to the T as she looks like a quintessential English Rose with her peaches and cream complexion and blue eyes. She undergoes a horrific transformation in the second half. Her performance is convincing too. Rajneesh Duggal recites the Hanuman Chalisa flawlessly. He has a good voice but his ex-pression fail him in the first few scenes. He gets a grip as the movie progresses and delivers a decent performance. Raj Zutshi is dependable as the Father who befriends the lonely Lisa and tries to exorcise her later on.The music offers a lot of variety with Asha Bhonsle, Pundit Jasraj and Shubha Mudgal on the vocals and most of the songs are soulful. The piano pieces and background score deserve a special mention. 1920 is essentially a love story; the horror and period aspects are backdrops against which the love story develops. It succeeds at scaring and entertaining you. Leave your brains at home and you will not be disappointed.

saas bahu aur sensex

Saas, Bahu aur Sensex - Disappointing at many levelsNitya (Tanushree Dutta) and mom Binita (Kirron Kher) leave Kolkatta to start a new life in Mumbai. Nitya is unable to cope with her parents' divorce. She gets a new lease of life when she befriends Ritesh (Ankur Khanna) who stays in the same building. He helps her get a job at a call centre. Binita befriends the kitty partying ladies of the building including Mrs. Brar (Shanon Prabhkar) and Mrs Jethmalani (Lillette Dubey). She also lands a nursery job courtesy broker Firoz Sethna (Farooque Sheikh) who also helps her understand and invest in the stock market. After some doubts, her friends follow suit. The romantic triangle between Nitya, Ritesh and Kirti (Mausumeh Masumeh) rests against the Sensex backdrop. On the upside, the characters are colorful. There is an Urdu speaking Mrs Noorani who belittles her daughter-in-law, a South Indian lady whose husband finds hip-hop more interesting than her along with the quintessential Parsi broker Farooque Sheikh. The attention to detail and production design is perfect. Notice the old furniture, files and magazines in Sethna's office and the garish furniture in the Jethmalani household. Binita Sen's bare house metamorphoses into a swanky apartment as both mother and daughter start earning. It is fun to see the ladies switch from saas-bahu serials to the sensex and the spoof on TV soaps called Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Kanya Thi is excellent.Nobody could have played Firoz Sethna better than Farooque Sheikh and it is a delight to see Sheikh and Kher together. Sheikh should definitely do more movies. The beautiful Lilette Dubey impresses as usual as the Sindhi wife who keeps correcting her husband's English. Sharon Prabhakar springs a pleasant surprise as the loud and talkative Mrs Brar (don't forget the R). Kirron Kher is adorable and lights up the screen. Masumeh plays the bold, charming and calculative opportunist Kirti exceedingly well. Tanushree is sweet as the simple Nitya and Khanna delivers a decent performance. On the downside, SBS is slow and boring because you keep waiting for something to happen . The wedding scene in the beginning is reminiscent of Monsoon Wedding sans the zest and energy. The Kher-Sheikh angle should have been tied up. It gets repetitive and predictable, unlike the Sensex. The way the Sensex zooms up is also a bit hard to believe.SBS could have been a fantastic comedy but it fails to deliver. Skip it unless you want to see Farooque Sheikh's excellent performance.

rubaru new 2008

Ru Ba Ru - Heavily BorrowedTara and Nikhil meet at a wedding and fall in love at first sight. They live together in a plush apartment in Bangkok . Tara's world revolves around Nikhil who is too busy chasing the perfect life a good contract can craft for him. He chooses his clients over her. They have a tiff and she gets into a taxi. She has an accident and is declared dead. Nikhil goes home crying but wakes with Tara next to him. Is he dreaming? Did she really die? Is this girl really Tara? There is nothing amusing or interesting in the first half until the accident. The second half replays most of the movie as Nikhil desperately tries to figure out and change the course of the day because he doesn't want to lose Tara. So he goes out of his way to explicitly express his feelings for her, which is quite sweet. The movie attempts to be different but borrows heavily from the Tom Cruise starrer Vanilla Sky and If Only He Loved As There was No Tomorrow starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. There are shades of Meet Joe Black too.Ratio Agnihotri and Jayant Kriplani who play Nikhil's parents provide comic relief. The music is bland barring Tum Paas Ho which is shot on the beautiful island of Phuket. You hate Randeep's character Nikhil initially because he ignores the doting Tara and you relate to the desperate doting lover he transforms into. Hooda's performance improves with the film.Fresh from the success of Rock On! Shahana is excellent once again as the romantic girlfriend, the theatre actress and the girlfriend who is pleasantly amused by her boyfriend's sudden shower of affection. Using her attractive smile and eyes, she emotes well and connects with the audience because she seems so real. She smiles and cries a lot more here than she did in Rock On! She steals every scene.Out of the much publicized 10 kisses, only two are worth mentioning. I particularly liked the 'meet-the-parents' scene and the pre-climax scene. Some things are quite silly like the Thai lady singing a Hindi song and Thai people watching and understanding a Hinglish play. They should have been taken care of. Bangkok looks beautiful and different from what we have seen earlier.Ru Ba Ru is a one time watch if you are a sucker for romance.

new small budget film hulla

Hulla - Makes a MarkRaj Puri (Sushant Singh), a broker and his marketing executive wife Abha (Kartika Devi Rane) move into their new house in Malad. Abha gets busy decorating the house according to Feng Shui as Raj excels at his job. Things are fine until Raj is disturbed at night by the whistle blowing watchman Matthew (Chandrachoor Karnik). He appeals to Janardhan (Rajat Kapoor), the secretary of the building who insists it is necessary for the security of the building. It seems he is making a mountain of a molehill because nobody else is bothered by the noise. He argues with secretary, bribes the watchman and even complaints to the police, but all his plans backfire. Irritated by the lack of sleep, he becomes obsessed with fighting against the whistle blowing and suffers major losses, personally and professionally.Hulla is a laugh out loud comedy in the first half. It is very realistic and the humour is situational. Bid adieu to fancy designer mansions to make way for one bedroom matchbox apartments with dull pista green walls. It is peppered with so many colourful characters like old men who play hockey on the terrace, a family that moves into their new house in the middle of the night because 'pandit ne kaha hai ki yeh shubh mahurat hai' and Abha's intellectual father played by Darshan Jariwala who does not miss an opportunity to belittle his son-in-law along with different tenants of the building. Memorable scenes include the co-operative society meeting and the one where the CM steps in to solve Raj's problem. The second half though gets a tad repetitive. The performances from the lead actors and the huge supporting cast are excellent. Rajat Kapoor's Janardhan completely looks the part of a middle class Gujarati. You can feel his enthusiasm about his new job as the secretary of the building and you empathize with his desperate attempts to make ends meet. Sushant Singh is perfect as Raj and his arguments with Janardhan are spot on, with neither of them backing down. He constantly blinks his dark circled eyes and twitches his face to show how sleepy he is and relishes annoying Janardhan He transforms from a friendly guy to a selfish, careless and obsessive man. It would be nice to see Sushant do more films. Kartikadevi Rane looks very pretty and her patience complements Raj's aggressiveness perfectly. You can see the pain in Matthew's eyes and your heart breaks for the 74 year old watchman caught between Raj and Janardhan. You will like Hulla if you like simple stories that are well told and liked Mithya and Bheja Fry. Jaideep Verma's debut film is worth watching. Go for it!

review of rafoo chakkar

Raffoo Chakkar - Stay miles away from this ChakkarIt takes a lot of hurting to give a film a zero, but I couldn't think of anything nice about it. Rafoo Chakkar is a passe, painful, boring, crude, trashy, brainless and predictable comedy. And it's not funny; it makes you yawn and you will laugh AT the film, not with it.This chakkar starts with Millie and Julie (Nisha and Nauheed) who run away from home because they do not want to get married. Similarly, Pappu and Munnu( Yudi and Aslam) escape for the same reason. These four meet in Mumbai and fall in love, when they were supposed to get married to each other in the first place. Enter 45 year old soul sisters Kokila and Koena (Archana and Mita) who miss no opportunity to showcase their black belt level Karate skills. Their father dies and they will get his property only if they get married, which is something they have avoided all their lives. Pappu and Munnu get robbed and their bad luck lands them in a marriage of convenience to the sisters, while their sweethearts know nothing of it. Besides making a mockery of funny films, it also mocks marriage and death. The sisters get married to get their hands on their father's property and in spite of being friends with Kokila, Koena, Pappu and Munnu, Millie and Julie don't know about the marriage. The scenes involving death are handled insensitively. And who blackmails his younger brother into stealing for him? Moreover, we have already seen useless, lazy sons running away with their father's money in films like Haseena Maan Jaayegi earlier. the rishwat khor officer has been done to death. The production values are outdated and the film has an unappealing 90s feel to it. The script and dialogue is banal, the scenes fail to make their intended impact and do not flow into one-another.The performances are terrible, more so because the characters are silly. Archana Puran Singh and Mita Vashisht have made utter fools of themselves and their action sequences are hard to believe. Nisha Rawal, last seen in Serendipity's awful rip-off Hastey Hastey, has no screen presence whatsoever and cannot act. Nauheed Cyrusi is strictly ok but why is she spilling out of her clothes? Yudi was a popular VJ on Channel V and his TV shows had better scripts than Rafoo Chakkar. He does not look awkward in front of the camera. Aslam Khan has an annoying and stupid character and his ex-pressions are blank.Shakti Kapoor and Sadashiv Amrapurkar haven't been seen in a long time. The former looks very haggard, the latter has put on weight and their performances are outdated. How can I forget the jarring Bright Outdoor Advertising product placement; I even know the number by heart! The pre-climax scene has been ripped off cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, which ironically starred Shakti Kapoor as the memorable Crime Master Gogo.To top it, the theme of popular video game Super Mario is used with abandon in the action/confusion scenes. The music by Lalit Pandit (of Jatin-Lalit) is bad, the camerawork is messy.Rafoo Chakkar is a 2 hour long drag. I was so bored that I was wondering what I could do while watching the film. You, dear reader must not get involved in this chakkar!

review of hari puttar

He is only a kid…" is something that is heard ever too often. But when a kid displays the valour and wit that is no child's play and the presence of mind that belies his age, it certainly is no kidding matter. Hari Puttar is the awe-inspiring story of one such kid.Hari Prasad Dhoonda ( Zain Khan ) or Hari Puttar, as he is fondly called, is a bright 10 year old who has recently moved from India to the U.K. with his parents ( Sarika & Zakir Khan ). His father, Prof. Dhoonda is assigned to work on a secret project with the Defense Forces at a remote location in the U.K. He has access to confidential information that is stored on a chip and safely kept at his house.Within days of their arrival in London, Hari's aunt ( Lilette Dubey ) and uncle DK ( Jackie Shroff ) visit the Dhoonda residence with their own as well DK's boss' children. Suddenly, the house is filled with the effervescence of no less than ten kids. At this point, everything goes for a spin for Hari Puttar. Not only is he thrown out of his room to accommodate the girls, he is also ragged and ridiculed by all the other kids for being too naïve. Hari Puttar suddenly feels unwanted, undermined and unappreciated. To top it, even as DK arranges a vacation for the entire family, one night before they take off, Hari's mother sends him off to the attic bedroom as a punishment for no big fault of his. As luck would have it, the next morning, the whole family leaves in a tearing hurry, forgetting that they have left something integral behind - Namely Hari and his little cousin Tuk Tuk ( Swini Khara ). But this realization does not dawn until they are halfway into their journey. When Hari and Tuk Tuk discover that they have the large house to themselves, they begin to enjoy the sudden freedom. Meantime, an infamous don, Kali Mirchi, assigns two bumbling burglars ( Saurabh Shukla & Vijay Raaz ) to steal the secret formula chip from Hari's house. Hari accidentally discovers the mission of the burglars and is determined to save the secret formula from being exposed. The so called naïve Hari Puttar embarks on a journey of great adventure and suddenly discovers the self-confidence, creativity and gumption that he did not know he possessed…With his innovative plans , determined wit, and with able support from Tuk Tuk, Hari Puttar manages to not only save the secret chip but also captures the two unsuspecting thugs. Hari's mother in the meanwhile, desperate to get back to Hari goes through her own adventure to reach back home… And when she does, she finds that she had left behind a son… and had come back to a little hero.

katrina

Katrina is on a career high. Presently she is shooting in Philadelphia in the US for the Yashraj film with John Abraham and Neil Mukesh, directed by Kabir Khan.Sources reveal that though 'Singh is King' is huge hit, instead of celebrating the success back home, she is shooting non stop for 18 hours at a stretch. Though she has been getting a deluge of complimentary call for the double hat trick in her career.Industry folks compliment her on her dedication, hard work and professionalism. Success hasn't changed Katrina.Industry sources also say that if Katrina would have been in Bachna Ae Haseeno, the film would have got a bigger opening, since she is considered as a lucky mascot in the trade circles. Incidentally Katrina was supposed to be in the film, but since the film would have got longer, the producer felt that it would not do justice to her.Yashraj then signed her for the film with John and Neil Mukesh, directed by Kabir Khan, in a role which will have huge scope to perform. Infact keeping with her stature at the box office, she is touted as the highlight of the film. With 6 hits in a row, and a promising 'Yuvraaj' later this year, Katrina is truly on a roll !!

Yash Chopra is coming back to direction after a gap of four years with his yet untitled romantic next. The filming for which begins in 2009 January. He has managed a casting coup of sorts with this one.If sources are to be believed, he has got together Amitabh Bachchan along with son Abhishek Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Industrywalas have been left stumped with this get together of actors under one roof. The reported cold war between the Bachchans and the King Khan and the also the famous Salman Khan v/s Shah Rukh brawl at Katrina's birthday bash is still fresh in everyone's mind. Then how has Yash Chopra managed the impossible?A Bollywood trade analyst added, "When Yashji summons you never say No! Amitabh was given a new lease of life by him with Mohabbatein (2000) at the time when all his come back films were flopping left-right-centre.Abhishek was given a career boost with Dhoom (2004). This Yash Raj film was Abhi's first certified hit in his career. Shah Rukh Khan is family for the Chopras.Katrina is amongst today's top actresses. She is a thorough professional and plus which actress would say no to a film produced by Yash Raj the biggest Bollywood banner and that too a film directed by Yash Chopra himself!"What remains to be seen is how will Salman react to his girlfriend out to align with his arch enemy SRK, even if its on screen! .

new bolly gossips

Ask the Sexiest Man in Bollywood who he finds the sexiest woman in Bollywood and pat comes the reply - Katrina Kaif!Arjun rated Ms. Kaif 10 on 10 in terms of beauty and sex appeal. Now we didn’t really need that to believe she is the best, but it certainly feels nice to see such a good looking and sexy actor appreciate another.
Of course for Arjun, Katrina is only second to his beautiful wife Mehr Jessia Rampal… Now thats a smart husband.

Diya Mirza was recently invited at Sajid Khan’s chat show Sajid’s Superstars where the starlet made some very bold comments (probably it has something to do with her so called ‘bold’ makeover). In 2000, Miss Indias Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra and Dia Mirza all brought home international beauty crowns and did India proud. Sajid asked Dia as to who does she think is best of the three in Bollywood.
And Miss Loudmouth without battling an eye said ‘Me’ and she added that the collective potentials of Lara and Priyanka cannot match up to her talent.
I see… that is certainly not what your box office record tells us Ms. Mirza!

Shahrukh Khan is determined to make his Temptations Reloaded 2008 tour bigger than the Bachchan’s Unforgettable World Tour and so he has managed to get in a lot of big names on to his team list.
He has now roped Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu to join his Temptations Reloaded Team with Katrina Kaif, Anusha Dandekar and Arjun Rampal.
Cineyug’s Mohammed Morani (scriptwriter and director of the shows) confirmed and said, “Yes, we have signed Deepika and Bipasha for Temptation Reloaded. But, I haven’t worked out their dance moves yet. And we are in advanced talks with Kareena. She may join us for the shows in Dubai.”
A source said, “SRK has fans all over the world. It’s great that Deepika and Bipasha have joined the tour too. If Kareena comes on board, which is quite possible, it doesn’t get bigger than this.”I somehow think, there are too many ladies on the board, SRK should have included good male performers who people really enjoy watching… It would’ve been bigger than this if someone like Hrithik joined him.

After King Akshay Kumar recording a song with Snoop Dog, its Abhishek’s turn to sing alongside famous American rapper Wyclef Jean. And Jean is really floored by Abhishek Bachchan.
“Abhishek hypnotizes you with the way he talks, his tone has that automatic swagger in it; I wanted to put the whole synergy where we come from and where he comes from and put it on one record,” says Jean.
Jean also met Big B and he is impressed by him too. “I had a great conversation with Abhishek’s dad, he is like one of the sharpest men I’ve ever met in my life. So it was a great thing.”
He couldn’t meet Abhishek’s wife though, “I was supposed to meet her in California, because I was doing a show there, but our schedules conflicted. I’m still looking forward to meeting her.”
Wonder if he knew Abhishek’s dad is the biggest star of India.

Himesh Reshammiya is leaving no effort in the promotion of his forthcoming film Karzzz and for that he is neglecting his TV show Sa Re Ga Ma
Sources report that the nasal singer turns up pretty late on the sets while all the other judges arrive on time. Sources say Himesh turns up on the sets 3-4 hours late for almost every other show.
The makers of Sa Re Ga Ma are furious with Himesh but the poor souls couldn’t but grin and bear it. After all he is one of the reasons why people watch the show.
But I wonder how people will respond to his Karzzzz… Propably they’ll all be ZZZzzzzz…..

Rumormongers were working overtime talking about the SRK-Sallu fight on Katrina Kaif’s birthday bash and that SRK threw Katz out of his Temptations Reloaded Tour. They also said that SRK was planning to get Katz deported. However, Katrina has now taken a step that will silence all the rumor mills.
Katrina went ahead and signed the Yash Raj flick opposite Shahrukh Khan, proving to the world that she is a thorough professional and she doesn’t let her personal life intervene her professional life.
She will also be sharing the stage with Shah Rukh Khan for a performance at Bhutan during the coronation day of the new king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk.
What say Sallu miyan?

Imran Khan is Bollywood’s current heartthrob and advertisers are queuing in front of his door asking him to endorse their products. Ranbir Kapoor, who also made a debut last year was signed by Pepsi and he also endorsed a famous suiting and shirting brand.
But it looks like this Khan lad is a tad different. He hasn’t signed a single endorsement deal yet. And the simple reason he gives us is –
“I just can’t identify with any product that I’m asked to endorse. It’s not about not doing cigarette and alcohol ads. That, of course, goes without saying. I won’t even endorse clothes or drinks that I don’t use.
“I recently had a big Delhi garment industry offering me an endorsement. But I don’t wear their clothes. How can I ask other people to wear them? I’ll endorse the products that I use,” Imran said.
Now that’s what I call – Mind Over Matter!

It’s a matter of pride for Aamir Khan that Taare Zameen Par is his third movie that has made it to Oscars as India’s official entry. So does that mean Aamir is the true Baadshah of Bollywood?
“If Shah Rukh hears this, he’s going to be really upset,” Aamir said laughing.
Ask him about the film’s chances at the Oscars and he says, “Whether we win an Oscar or not, we’ll definitely make the jury members cry.” Smart answer.
But why does he shun the awards back home in India?
“It’s not a question of Indian or international. Just a few weeks ago, I went to pick a Kolhapuri Award at Chennai. I’ve been to the National Awards as well. So, it’s inaccurate to say I shun Indian awards. As far as the Oscars are concerned, they’re a platform that give you the opportunity of addressing a larger audience. When your film gets nominated for the Oscars, people who aren’t familiar with Indian cinema go to the world cinema section at a DVD store and pick it up,” he explains.
Point taken Aamir!

Imran Khan's petite and perky costar Genelia D'Souza in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na started her career with Mr Bachchan, no less."I did a Parker pen ad with him when I was still a kid. It seems I've been acting forever. Strangely acting was never an option. That ad was directed by Mansoor Khan. He kept me in mind for Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, and here I am."She continues, "Actually this film was being produced by Jhamu Sugandh first. That's when I screen -tested for the role of Aditi. I met the director Abbas Tyrewalla and he almost finalized me.But he needed bulk dates from me and I was busy down South. He wanted to shoot at stretch. I couldn't do. I got busy in the South. Then one day I got a call from Aamir Khan's office.Abbas wanted a complete newcomer. But Aamir wanted a girl who suited the character. The next thing I knew, I was on board."Genelia says she was never that keen on an acting career. "But when I saw how I was appreciated down South I fell in love with the industry.I've been lucky. I didn't plan anything. I've never contacted a single producer. So far it's been an awesome journey."After Tamil and Telugu Genelia has just made her debut in Kannada film. "I'm sure I'll be able to dub in all the South Indian languages soon. I know I can do it. I just need to get the slangs and colloquialisms correct. Honestly I need to dub my own lines in the South to give complete performances."In Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Genelia plays a girl quite like herself. "Except for one detail. Aditi picks fights with every damn person. I'm not like that.I'd rather talk it out than fight. I had to really let go to be fighting on screen all the time. The workhops really help. Both Imran and I are close to the characters. But we also discovered new facets of ourselves while playing the characters."Like Asin, Genelia is now dividing her time between Bollywood and the South. "I'm getting a lot of calls in Mumbai. I want to balance it out. But the priority would be Hindi films right now because I've worked really long in the South. But my South Indian films are also very important. I get very satisfying roles in Tamil and Telugu. And I can't let them go. Let's just say I'll do one film down South for every two films I do here.In any case they wrap up their films super-fast down South."The rumours about Genelia D'Souza and her first co-star Riteish Deshmukh have the child-woman flummoxed."I'm very much single. Riteish is a friend. But that's it. I've no idea where these rumours come from. We're both very busy. When we occasionally meet up we're normal with one another, not the least selfconscious about what's written about us.I'm very new to all this. I've done the two films with Riteish Tujko Meri Kasam and Masti….I started young, yes. In 2003 I had three releases in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, " the Mumbai girl informs me."I got busy with the South that 's the only reason why it took me so long to get noticed in Bollywood. There's a buzz about Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na because it is Imran's debut film. I'm definitely looking at it as a high-potential film.I also had fun doing Priyadarshan's Mere Baap Pehle Aap. I enjoy doing films in all languages and genres."She also has It's My Life with Harman Baweja coming up."I've done the original in Telugu down South. Then I also did the remake in Tamil. Now I'm doing it in Hindi. The Tamil and Telugu versions were similar. But the Hindi version is very different. Today both the South and Hindi are high-potential industries for me. I'm still a newcomer in Bollywood." .
